How Our Pricing Works
Every offer we make is computed from live spot prices at the moment of your appointment. We never quote fixed prices online, because metals move daily — a price published last week is a wrong price today.

Bullion: tight spreads off live spot
For bullion — bars, rounds, and common government coinage — our offer is live spot minus a small spread, typically in the 3–5% range. On high-demand domestic products (think American Eagles and other pieces we can resell quickly) the spread is often under 3%. On obscure or hard-to-resell products the spread is wider, because we may hold them longer. That's the whole model: the easier your item is for us to resell, the closer to spot we can pay.
Jewelry: a different basis than bullion
Jewelry is notpriced on a bullion spread. A jewelry offer starts from the metal's melt value (purity × weight × live spot) and then accounts for what the piece actually is: brand and maker, stones, condition, and whether it's worth more intact than melted. Two rings with identical gold content can deserve very different offers — that's why we look at every piece in person.
Collectible coins: graded on the coin, not the metal
Rare and collectible coins are priced on date, mint mark, grade, and real auction results — the metal content is just the floor. Certified coins (PCGS/NGC) we can discuss by grade over the phone; raw coins we need to see.
Why we do it this way
- Live, not stale: your offer tracks the market at your appointment — if gold moves between today and your visit, your offer moves with it, in either direction.
- No games: the spread structure above is the same whether you bring one coin or an estate.
- Local and accountable: we've been buying in Southern Oregon since 1997 — at 1632 Ashland St. in Ashland and in Grants Pass, by appointment.
